Homeschooling

Deuteronomy 6:7 "And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
Homeschooling is taking some getting used to this year. We started the first week of August and are already behind in lessons. Eight subjects times three children equals a lot of reading to make sure they are a learning and absorbing all the information!
I decided I can drive myself crazy over making sure they are "getting it", or I can do what I can do and make the best of every moment as a teachable one. My children do learn best when I walk them through their lessons, but it's also my job to help them learn to be independent in their studies. It's a difficult balance to achieve. Deuteronomy 6:7 shows that children should be taught diligently, which means with care, but it basically says that this should be done always: when you sit, walk, lie down, and rise up. We are always in one of these positions. So in other words, teach them carefully always.

Cozaddale Baptist Temple Missions Conference

Fall is the season for Missions Conferences! The Mann family had a great meeting last night at Cozaddale Baptist Temple in Goshen, OH at their Missions Conference running from September 21-26. Dan Souza had a great message from Matthew 26 as he equated Faith Promise giving to the giving of the alabaster box.

We were very excited to meet Mrs. Christensen, former missionary to Hungary. She and her husband, Colin were there from 1993-2007. It was helpful to hear about her time in Hungary and get some insight on the kind of trials she faced while there, especially with learning the language. She had some funny stories to share about trying to converse with Hungarians. I am glad to have met her so I can shower her with all my questions!

Bible Baptist Church~ September 17-21 Missions Conference

This past week, the Mann family was privileged to be a part of the Missions Conference at the Bible Baptist Church in Ashtabula, OH.

The Conference theme was "Hold the Rope" and we heard some good preaching from the keynoe speaker, Dr. Langley. The other Conference missionaries were Brad and Felicia Barkowski and their son, James, to Trinidad, and Dick and Tonya Burdine to Cambodia.

We met some sweet people at Bible Baptist and had some great meals. Pastor and Mrs Emery were very kind to us. Micah, Laura, and Heidi made some new friends and were sad to have to leave them behind.

The last day of the Conference was busy with classes, a meal with the church  members, and five baptisms in the evening service! Praise the Lord!

We're so glad to call the folks at Bible Baptist our friends!

WBC Missions Conference ~ September 10-14, 2014

Our family was blessed to be a part of the Worth Baptist Church Missions Conference this past week in Fort Worth, Texas! Their love for Jesus and for Missions is so apparent amongst the staff and church members at WBC! It was great to meet the other missionaries there, the Priday family to Honduras and the Haynes family to Kurdistan, and to hear about God's call for their lives.

Evening services took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as breakout sessions where each missionary shared their particular field. The keynote speaker was Pastor Luis Ramos who preached some excellent messages! Wednesday's message was on "The Scope of the Great Commission" from Mark 16. On Thursday, he preached on "The Lukewarm Church" from Revelation 3, and Friday he shared from Acts 1:8 on the "Ommission of the Great Commission". On Thursday and Friday, a question and answer and prayer time with small groups took place. It was neat to have this time with the church members and to talk and pray with them.

A number of activities took place on Saturday. The ladies met for a brunch and Lena Priday, Apryl Haynes and I shared our testimonies. Michelle Volante gave the gospel and we heard from the pastors wife, Mrs Weaver, and were blessed to hear some dear ladies sing.
The children, teens, and men of the church had their own activities for the day. Laura, Heidi and I enjoyed an afternoon with Andrea Coker, who along with her husband, Darrell, was our sponsons during the conference. In the evening, the Coker family went with us to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History to see the IMAX show on Jerusalem. Very neat!

Sunday arrived, the final day of the conference. The missionaries taught different Sunday School classes. In the morning service, we heard a message from Steve Volante on the Conference theme "True Worship Brings True Witness". In the Evening service, Miguel Triano preached on Isaiah 6, "Here I Am, Send Me". Following evening service was a presentation of gifts to the missionaries. We were so blessed by the outpouring of love from our friends at WBC. Thank you all who gave to help meet our needs!
The Candlelight service after was amazing! Pastor Weaver gave each missionary a Bible and had us take our light and Bible to a section of the auditorium representing our country. All around the darkened auditorium were the lights of the missionaries and church members. To show what a dark world this would be without Christians being a light for Christ, in the still darkened room, all lights were extinguished.

It was wonderful to gain new friends and Jason even had a few people express a desire to take a missions trip to Hungary next summer! What an awesome week!
     To God be the glory!

Terrific Ten!

Micah, turned ten yesterday, September 9. The day before, we arrived in Fort Worth, TX for a Missions Conference and decided to take the family to the Science and History Museum. It's so neat to watch the kids explore, learn and grow. They learn much with hands-on experiences such as those displayed at a museum. What's even more neat is to see the kids grow spiritually. Sunday we were in a church in Chattanooga, TN. The pastor there was quite thrilled to hear Micah ask him if he needed anything and if he could help. Micah's servants heart is growing so incredibly large!
Happy 10th birthday, Micah!
