Who is God?
Ephesians 3:16-19 “16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
What is this talking about? Christ is the example of love. We can love because He made Himself the ultimate example.
Love demands giving and originates from the giver , not the worthiness of the one to it is given.
Romans 5:6-8 “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
How does our God affect us? Our view of God affects the way we live and think.
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
List three common misconception about God.
God is just like my earthly father. (John 8:32) How can we know what God is like? Turn to His Word; we shall know the truth
God doesn’t really love me. (1 John 4:8) (Jeremiah 31:3) (Ephesians 1:6) Truth is greater than our feelings.
God loves me more when I serve Him. (Galatians 3:11) What interests God more than what we are doing for Him? God is more interested in what He is doing in us rather than what we are doing for Him.
The ability to rest in God’s love for me gives me liberty in service. (1 John 4:19) (John 14:15)
